What Sponsorship Covers

CHAIN of Love is not an institution. It is made up of 9 homes with house parents where the husband has his job and the mother gets a stipend for taking care of the children at home.

The sponsorships cover any expenses that there would be in a household – food, some clothing, schooling and school supplies, medical, transportation to and from church and sometimes to the school, the mother’s salary, utilities for the home and also other items like laundry supplies, cleaning supplies, etc. In other words, everything that it takes to run a home.

Some children need extra help with their studies and some need psychological help. This extra teacher and the psychologist get a salary as does the Social worker that CHAIN of Love is required by Brazilian law to employ. Now the Government is demanding that we hire an Accountant so this is another added expense.

CHAIN of Love is not part of the NAB budget so all funds to operate for the children’s needs must be raised through sponsorships. Any money for construction or maintenance is funded separately and used strictly for those purposes. Some children, of course, need more than others especially if they are in higher grades in school or if they are sick a lot or have special medical needs. Unlike organizations like World Vision who help needy children get food and clothing and an education in their own homes, CHAIN of Love does that plus provides a home and parents for these children.
