Ana Carolina - House 5
Ana Carolina was born May 10, 2000. This is a sad case of incest where the father is also the grandfather. It is highly suspected that she was also sexually abused, as well as extremely neglected. She and her brother Thiarles have been in a Christian half way house in Porto Alegre, run by the Christian and Missionary Alliance, since June 22, 2005. The parents have lost parental rights. She used diapers until she was 5 years old.
When first rescued from her situation she fought alot with the other children in the half way house. She is now quite organized, likes to use perfume, jewellery, bright colored clothing and nice shoes. She is not yet in school. She has a speech disorder that is mostly from emotional stress. Ana Carolina has been placed in the home of Deni & Tadeu, House No. 5.
January 2007 Update: Ana Carolina is 6 years old and in 1st grade. She has a genuine love for God. Ana participates in the Christmas cantata and Sunday School. She is responsible, delicate, neat and careful, disciplined and is very organized. She loves to do her chores (she actually organizes the kitchen cupboards placing the colors together!). She is very loving and caring. Because of her speech impediment she can be very stubborn and frustrated.
Main Prayer Request: Pray that her speech therapist will help her communicate better. She is also undergoing treatment for chronic ear infections that have affected her hearing.
2008 Update: Ana Carolina is seven years old and in grade one. At home her chore is to clean the bathroom sink and take care of her clothes. In her spare time she likes to paint and make things out of wood. She enjoys getting lots of love and attention and is a sweet child. She is active in Sunday School and worship services at church and especially enjoys singing and praying. She is developing well in her spiritual life and takes interest in the things of God and especially in prayer.
Please pray that Ana Carolina will learn to speak more clearly. Pray that she will be able to break the habits of sucking her thumb and putting her fingers behind her teeth as this has caused some speech problems.
2009 Update: Ana Carolina is very kind and obedient. She has good hygiene and is progressing at school. Please pray for her communication skills to improve. At times she is making the effort to talk but, as yet, no one understands her.
