Marcia - House 4
Marcia was born on August 4, 1996. She never officially attended any school and comes to us with an older sister named Maria Helena.
They came to us from Porto Alegre, a city nearby, after being in a halfway house for a time. Their mother passed away of leukemia and they haven´t had a stable home life since then. Their father is an alcoholic and a drug addict. They stayed with their father and stepmother for a while but their stepmother treated them very badly. They ran away from there at least 3 times. During their time in
the halfway house, the social workers contacted many members of their family in order to place the girls with relatives, but to no avail. Social Workers found that most of their relatives are either drug addicts, alcoholics, or extremely violent.
The girls were pleased to learn that they would come to Chain of Love because they remembered that Andrei who had lived with them in the halfway house, had come here to live. When they got here, they wanted to see him and even brought him a present. He was a little surprised and actually cried because he didn´t quite know how to react. Márcia has made her decision for Christ and was baptized in April, 2007. At COL she took the craft course. At church she takes part in the Sunday School, Pioneer Girls, the Christmas cantata (she sang a solo and sings very well), and belongs to the Wednesday Night Missions Group. (Amigos de Missões). She developed in all areas and is a natural leader. She prays in such a sincere way!
Main Prayer Request: That Márcia would learn to stop being so bossy. She likes to tell everyone, even the house mom, what to do. She needs to be reminded who is the mom and who is the child!
2008 Update: Marcia is eleven years old and in grade five at school. Her work at home is to clean the living room. She has a pleasant singing voice and would like to be a singer. In spare time she likes to play with toys and watch television. She is a good girl but cries a lot. She is going through a bit of heartache because her sister left COL and she misses her. She is active in Sunday School and the girls’ club at church and reads her Bible a lot.
Please pray for Marcia. She would so love to live with her Dad but he just cannot support her.
2009 Update: Marcia has excelled in Math and been chosen to pass to the next level in a type of math contest. At times she does not want to follow rules that are necessary. She would like prayer for her sister to return to the Lord.
