Miquela - House 3
Miquela Gabriela was born May 10, 1996. She has two older brothers that were put into a home for boys and an older sister Kate with whom she came to Chain of Love. Their father died some time ago and the mother remarried shortly afterwards. From this second union was born another younger sister.
Their mother died last year at 36 years of age from AIDS. The step father wanted none of the step children except for the youngest which was his own. A neighbor took in the 4 older ones but was not able to take care of them. She wanted us to take them in so we oriented her to go through social services. First the two boys were placed in a boy’s home and then about a year later the girls came to us.
Miquela is in grade 4. She was not in school this year (2007) but will enter school soon and continue with her education. Miquela likes to be called by her second name Gabriela. She is active and likes sports. Soon after she arrived she was involved in a game of street soccer. She loves having her picture taken. She has a smile that reminds us of another girl whom we had at Chain of Love and is now grown.
Gabriela has been placed along with her sister in our third home, where the house parents are José and Alzira. The other children had been waiting anxiously for their arrival.
2008 Update: Miquela Gabriela is eleven years old and in grade 5. At home she washes dishes and is very loving, giving her house mother many hugs and kisses. She is eager to participate in activities but as yet is not focused into one area of preference. In her spare time she loves to give manicures and play volleyball. Miquela is growing in her love for the Lord and attends the girls’ club at church. She is both saved and baptized. Please pray that she would continue to seek God’s leading in her life.
2009 Update: Miquela is pleased with her accomplishments in the Photoshop computer course that she has been working on, but finds Math a challenge at school. She asks us to pray that her aunt might soon find employment. Her aunt was the person who cared for Miquela for some time after her mother died.
