Tairã - House 5

Tairã – Before receiving him, we had a younger sister and baby brother come under our care. Not much is to be said about his case. Each of the children is from a different father. This can be seen just by looking at them. The mother is a young prostitute who has abandoned 4 children over the course of time.

Tairã and his siblings came to us from the half way house in our city. While there they all had chicken pox along with all the other children. They must have been a handful to take care of as they had lice and sarna (a small worm just under the skin) as well.

He appears quite healthy and is really short and stalky for his age. He has adapted well into his family at Chain of Love There are many others in the same home around his age to play with. The others were also involved in his adaptation. One afternoon he scribbled on the ceramic floor on the porch and the others got a pail of soapy water and a scrub brush and made him clean it up. The house parents had nothing to do with it!

Tairã is 9 years old and in grade 3. He is also takinga praise and worship class at our technical center. He loves to play soccer. He also likes to getting dirty. Please pray that the Lord would reveil himself to Tairã in a special way and that God would provide him with a good understanding of His Word.

Update: Tairã likes to play soccer. He will often be seen wearing only one shoe as he lends the other to anyone who is barefoot.

January 2007 Update: Tairâ is 10 and in 5th grade. Tairâ has made his decision for Christ and wants to take part in the baptismal class in 2007. At COL he took crafts, computer, choreography and soccer class. At church he takes part in Boys’ Brigade and Jr. Church. He took a course for good citizenship that taught work ethics and anti-drug talks. He likes music and soccer. He is a good boy that is respectful and obedient and responsible with his chores. He says his greatest dream is to be adopted permanently by his house parents.

Main Prayer Request: That he remain growing in grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.

2008 Update: Taira is twelve years old and in grade six. He wants to continue with his studies but has not yet decided which area of study to focus on. At home he works to organize and keep the bathroom and bedroom clean and waters the plants. In his spare time he loves to play soccer and has already won four medals in this sport. He is quiet, but friendly and enjoys conversing with older people. He loves God, is growing well in his spiritual life, has accepted Christ as his Saviour and been baptized. He is involved with the boys’ club at church. Please pray that Taira would give himself more to his school studies and his spiritual life.

2009 Update: Tairã is doing very well with his chores and personal hygiene. He finds his schoolwork to be a challenge and asks for prayer that he would pass Grade 7 this year. He finds History and Portuguese especially difficult.
