Sidinei - House 9
Sidinei’s case as well as his siblings (Vanessa and Paulo) is well known in our town. He along with the others were abandoned by their mother (a prostitute) who left them in the inexperienced hands of a drunk. She did not want the children, as she already had abandoned another three at a previous date.
A social worker found them left on their own, up to their necks in their own bowel movements, and hungry. At the time that they were found, his brother Paulo was not there because he was out looking for food. Being the oldest of the three, Paulo had a notion of what needed to be done. As it was, Sidinei would have died the next day from dehydration. This was the report given by the hospital.
Sidinei and the others were in the half way house while we were renovating quarters for our fourth set of house parents. They waited for two whole months but finally the day arrived. Sidinei adapted well to his surroundings. He was very attentive and liked to look around, and drool at the same time. After a few days, he would literally throw himself at the house mother when being carried by some one else. He is quiet and very content.
Sidinei did not have a birth certificate when he first came to us. We gathered his age from his vacination card which stated that he was born July 19, 1996.
Sidinei is 11 years old and in grade 3. He plays well with his brothers, sisters and the rest of the kids here. He is a little bit shy around new people. He is participating in one of our singing and praise classes. Please pray that God will help Sidinei to grow in body and spirt.
Update: Sidinei loves watching Barney on TV. Because of this he always dresses in purple.
January 2007 Update: Sidinei is 10 and in 5th grade. He has made a decision for Christ but has not been baptized. At church he participated in the Christmas cantata, Boys’ Brigade and Sunday School. He is very helpful at home and is always willing to lend a hand. He is calm, obedient, and tidy, and likes to keep to himself. He still loves to play ball, play with toy cars and ride his bike. Sidinei is undergoing extensive orthodontal treatment.
Main Prayer Request: Sidinei has asthma so pray that the Lord would heal him and that he would listen more to the Lord and study harder.
2008 Update: Sidinei is eleven years old and is in grade five at school. At home his work is to dry the dinner dishes. He is friendly and calm, a happy boy who smiles a lot and has many of friends. He enjoys playing soccer and spending time on the computer. He is active in Sunday School and Boys’ Club at church. He participates with enthusiasm, enjoying the singing and activities. He is very interested in spiritual things and has asked the Lord into his life.
Please pray that Sidinei’s health would improve. The amount of medication needed to control his asthma hinders his ability to learn.
2009 Update: Sidinei is excited that, out of about 9 other classes, his class recently won the basketball championship at his school. He finds Math difficult at school, and asks you to pray that he would continue to get better in his Grade 6 studies.
