Rudimar - House 8
Rudimar came to us with a younger sister, Janaína. He came from a very sad situation of brutal physical abuse. His father was an alcoholic who would beat them constantly. His mother has severe mental problems and let the father do what he wanted with them.
The mother has had five children in total and the oldest is in a city nearby living in utter misery. The other two have been placed in foster care. In one instance, the father thought the mother was trying to run away from him so he took a taxi and followed the bus that she was on. He then broke all the windows in the bus in order to make them get off.
The mother had help previously from the social workers to flee the abuse but later returned to him, until she snapped. Now the social workers have taken away the children from both the father and the mother.
Rudimar is in the 3rd grade and is almost 10 years old. He has become very attached to his house parents and new brothers and sisters. He is currently taking guitar lessons at our technical center. He likes to watch TV and play with his brothers at Chain of Love. He is in the home of Enaldir and Nair. Please pray that Rudimar will be able to do well in school and for his continued spiritual growth.
Update: Rudimar likes to sing. He sang a duet with the oldest girl from his home during the main service. He did well in spite of the crowd. He also is singing along up front during Sunday School opening. He has a good ear for music.
January 2007 Update: Rudimar is 11 and in 5th grade. Rudimar has not made a commitment to Christ yet, although he is sensitive to the things of the Lord, likes to pray and asks for forgiveness when confronted with error. At church he goes to Sunday School and the Boys’ Brigade group. He is very smart and has done well in school. He likes to sing. He listens and obeys, although at school sometimes he can be a bit of a bully!
Main Prayer Request: Pray that he will use his intelligence to honour God and that he would come into a relationship with Jesus Christ.
2008 Update: Rudimar is thirteen years old and in grade five at school. He needs to take more responsibility at school for his education. At home his work is to take out the garbage and dust the furniture. In his spare time he likes to draw, play soccer and joke around with his friends. He has an exceptional singing voice and people are moved to hear him sing. However, he no longer wishes to sing. He attends Sunday School and worship services, has accepted Christ and is also baptized.
Please pray that Rudimar will be more responsible and be serious when that is necessary. Also pray that he will allow God to use him and that he might achieve well in school.
2009 Update: At school Rudimar earned a very good mark in art this year. He has become more rebellious and angry since he has found out that his biological mother is pregnant again. Please pray for good health for Rudimar and for his future plans.
