Mateus - House 9
Mateus was born March 12, 1998. Currently he is 13 years old. Mateus and his two brothers come from a situation of neglect where their most basic needs have been ignored. He has many siblings (10 in all) some of which have suffered sexual abuse.
Mateus’ father does not let his wife leave the house and is described as a violent, jealous and dominating man. All of his earnings from selling roses at a busy intersection are drunk away each evening. He has been ordered away from his family after the sexual abuse but will not stay away. His wife made things worse by helping him and by trying to ward off any help form the authorities by constantly changing houses (uninhabitable shacks) in an attempt to hide.
The children were no longer in school and she was not willing to make life livable for them. Because the father would not stay away even with a court order, the children were put into a half way house in 2009 for their own protection. Since that time, the children have responded well to ongoing education and are participative in all activities carried on there. The report is that they are advanced for their age in terms of education and respond well to their teachers.
It is our intent that the boys will do even better once they start to take advantage of all that Chain of Love has to offer them.
Mateus is in Grade 7, and has been placed with his brothers in our 9th Home with houseparents Graziele and Jefferson.
