Lucas - House 4
Lucas Coproski (Polish) is from another city. His birthday is Nov. 26, 1994 which makes him 11. He is short for his age and thin. His mother had abandoned the family some time ago. He has two older siblings whose life-style is not acceptable for an 11-year-old to become a part of.
Lucas had been with his father who is an alcoholic and would only give cachaça (a strong Brazilian alcoholic beverage) to the boy. It caused him ulcers and he had to be medicated. He was taken in by relatives, but they all claimed to be too poor so he was being shuffled around. His younger sister was given a home by a couple so the only one left unattended was Lucas.
The courts decided that there was negligence so ordered that he be given to us. He likes school and is in grade 3. He is a little shy but is well behaved. When I met him he was in the gym with the rest of the boys from house No. 1 playing soccer. His house parents are Marlene and Ademar.
January 2007 Update: Lucas is 12 and in 4th grade. Lucas is still fairly new to the homes and Christianity is also new to him. At first he made fun of all the church activities, but now he is more open and even participated in the prayer time by praying as well. He is meek and obedient. He is a wonderful boy and helps with chores. At COL he took the craft course. He belongs to a soccer school and loves playing. At church he participates in Boys’ Brigade and pre-adolescent group.
Main Prayer Request: That he would come to love the Lord and accept Him into his life.
2008 Update: Lucas is thirteen years old and in grade five at school. At home he takes his turn to keep the bathroom and bedroom clean and also helps his house mother in the kitchen. In his spare time he enjoys playing soccer and working in the garden. He is a loving boy but very quiet and reserved. He is developing well in his spiritual life, has accepted Christ as his Saviour and been baptized. He is active in the adolescents’ group at church. He loves to read the Bible and really pays attention to the Word of God. Please pray that Lucas will be guided by the Holy Spirit as he makes decisions about his future.
2009 Update: Lucas is adjusting well to living with his new house parents, Cesar and Marli. He loves to talk a great deal at school and asks for prayer that he would pass his year. He especially finds Math and Science difficult.
