Janaína - House 3
Janaína came to us with an older brother, Rudimar who was 7 years old at the time. She comes from a very sad situation including brutal physical abuse. Her father was an alcoholic who would beat them constantly. Her mother has severe mental problems and let the father do what he wanted with them. The mother has had five children in total and the oldest is in a city nearby living in utter misery. The other two have been placed in other foster care homes. In one instance, the father thought the mother was trying to run away from him so he took a taxi and followed the bus that she was on. He then broke all the windows in the bus in order to make them get off.
The mother had help previously from the social workers to flee the abuse but later returned to him, until she snapped. Now the social workers have taken away the children from both the father and the mother.
Janaína has adjusted well now and loves the new family that she has. She has another “sister” in her Chain of Love home that is very close in age and they play wonderfully together. She lives in our third home on campus with José and Alzira. From the first day she called Alzira “mommy”.
Janaina is now 7 years old and is a pretty little girl. She is now in the 1st grade. She has a very sweet personality and is very creative. She likes to be the center of attention. Pray for her so that she would continue to feel comfortable with her new family. One good point is that she has already been exposed to the Gospel and loves to sing Christian hymns. She is taking a praise and worship class offered at our technical center and is a very enthusiastic student there.
Update: Janaína want to be a hair dresser. She is always playing with the girls’hair. She accuses the others of having witches hair that she can fix up. She is very persistent.
January 2007 Update: Janaina is 9 and in 3rd grade. She has made a decision for Christ and will be baptized Dec. 31st. At Col she took the cross-stitch course. In the Community she took chess, gymnastics, and drawing. At church she sings in the Christmas cantata, is in Sunday.School and Pioneer Girls. She is very meek, sweet, obedient, and dear to all. She is smart and learns very rapidly.
Main Prayer Request: That she would continue dedicating herself in everything.
2008 Update: Janaina is ten years old and in grade four. Her work at home is to vacuum the rugs. She is a very happy and active girl who enjoys doing gymnastics and playing volleyball. Spiritually she is growing well, attending both girls’ club and Sunday School. She never misses church or Bible study. She has accepted Jesus as her Saviour and has been baptized. Please pray that she will continue to follow the Lord’s leading.
2009 Update: This year Janaina has changed to a school with higher standards, but she is adjusting well to the change and rising to the challenge. She is having difficulty with Math. Please pray for her biological family.
