Deivid (Nino)- Boys Youth Home

Deivid arrived in March of 1996. He does have a nickname that we use because when he first came to us there was already a Deivid in the home. Even though this boy has left, Nino still prefers Nino over Deivid.

Deivid came to us with his sisters and brother: Katiúscia, Dionatan and Kemile Schenckel from a family of nine. One child has already died and one was given away some time in the past. They all have different fathers. The mother is a large black woman and is presently in jail facing several charges of drug trafficking. She has been in jail just waiting for her trial. In the meantime, the 7 children were given to an aunt to raise. She tried for a few weeks, but because of her own drug habits was not responsible enough and so the 7 were left to fend for themselves in an abandoned house for more than half a year.

Nino is 13 years old and a hard worker. He has grown a lot in the past year and is reaching a awkward stage between a teenager and a child. He is good friends with his brother. He is always smiling. He is currently taking a basic computer course at our technical center. Please pray that God will give Nino strength to continue to stay faithful in his school work.

Update: Nino is growing like a weed. He is now much taller than his older brother.

January 2007 Update: Deivid is 15 and in 2nd level of High School (there are three levels). Deivid has made a commitment to Christ and has been baptized. He has changed a lot and loves to be around his house mom in the kitchen, teasing her and joking around. He loves his COL family and feels like he belongs. At COL he took the computer and the welding course. He takes part in the youth group at church.

Main Prayer Request: That Deivid would want to take part in more of the church activities.

2008 Update: Deivid is sixteen years old, attending grade ten in the evenings. On the weekends he washes dishes at home and cleans the boys’ bathroom. In his spare time he enjoys playing soccer and cooking. He often invents a dish that turns out to be very tasty. He dreams of having his own motor cycle some day and would like to take a culinary course. Deivid is saved and baptized and enjoys attending the church youth group. Please pray that Deivid would continue to respond to God’s leading in his life and make good plans for the future.

2009 Update: Daevid is adjusting well to his new house parents and takes responsibility well. He is achieving well at his new school even though the standards are higher. He earned a good grade in Physics but finds Math a challenge. He would like to take a cooking class after he graduates. Please pray for his future and for his biological family.
