Abraão - House 3
Abraão is the brother of Daniel, Ana Paula, Jeremias, Arnoldo & Maria do Carmo. He was born on June 14, 2003. We knew him since birth since the mother would bring him occasionally to the service. He would yell the whole time from hunger. He was mal- nourished and the mothers from the church gave her milk for Abraão.
Since he was in the same neglect and precarious situation as all the other brothers and sisters had been, the courts took him away and put him in the half way house. He has been there for more than a year. Paulina from church knows him since she works there. The prosecutor was going to put him up for adoption but seeing that the siblings visited him and expressed the desire to maintain ties, he conceded to having him placed with them at COL. If he would have gone up for adoption, they would never see him again. He seems to be at home at José and Alzira’s place. He was not too keen on having his picture taken as he wanted to ride the tricycle, a typical 3 year old.
January 2007 Update: Abraão is 3 and is new to COL. Since he came his behavior has changed drastically. Every day he is more into the family routine, accepting limits and challenges. He is very smart and very active. At first he would not accept any affection, but now he comes and seeks a hug and kiss.
Main Prayer Request: That he would be able to develop normally in all areas.
2008 Update: Abraão is four years old and not yet in school. However, at home his work is to dry the plastic dishes and cutlery. He is very friendly, likes to play a lot and is learning to ride a bicycle. He loves to go to church and attends Sunday School and Children’s Worship. After attending a missionary meeting one Wednesday he said that he had invited Jesus into his heart and that he does not fear the dark any more. He longs to be old enough to go to school.
2009 Update: Abraão’s behaviour at home is improving, and he is now able to ride his bike very well. Keeping his bed dry at night is a challenge for him. Please pray that he will be ready to start school in February and that he will succeed in learning to read.
