Bruna - House 5

Bruna came to with her younger brother in 1999. Each of the children is from a different father. This can be seen just by looking at them. The mother is a young prostitute who has abandoned 4 children over the course of time. Bruna and her brother came from the half way house in our city. While there they all had chicken pox along with all the other children. They must have been a handful to take care of as they had lice and sarna (a small worm just under the skin) as well. We are wondering if Bruna was just taken care of by women at the half way house or if she has some bad memory of men as she was dreadfully scared of the house father and of Ken as well. She cried easily and the tears would roll down her cheeks and drip onto the floor. One of the other girls in the same home is the same age and had the same complexion as Bruna. Her house parents are Deni and Tadeu.

Bruna is 7 years old and in the first grade. She is a tomboy who likes to state heropinion. She is always smiling and playing with her brothers ans sisters.

Update: Bruna did not like to go to school at first. She said she would only go if someone would pay her to go. Fortunately she has outgrown this.

January 2007 Update: Bruna is 9 years old and is in 3rd grade. She has not made a commitment to Christ yet. At the church she is involved with the Christmas cantata, Pioneer girls and Sunday School. Bruna has improved greatly in her studies, is loving and sensitive and loves small children.
Main Prayer Request: that God would help her to be meeker. She can be aggressive in her talk, using bad language at times. That she would be sensitive to God and His plan for her life.

2008 Update: Bruna is ten years old and in grade three at school. She is attending an acceleration programme in a different school to try and make up the year that she failed. She is a good leader and would probably do well in administration. At home she helps with the laundry and prepares salads. In her spare time she enjoys playing and drawing pictures for her house parents. She also loves to learn to cook and bake. She is persistent and when she has decided to do something usually carries it out. She loves to share things with others.
Bruna loves the Lord and prays a lot. She is active in Sunday School and Girls’ Club at church. She has accepted the Lord into her life.
Please pray that Bruna would be successful in her studies.

2009 Update: Bruna is more obedient and helpful when doing her chores around the house. School is a big challenge for her this year, partly because she is now attending a private school and the standards are much higher. Her main prayer request is that she pass Grade 5 this year and that she be more focused in Portuguese and Math which are her most difficult subjects.
