Maria Eduarda - House 2
Maria Eduarda was born May 20, 2010. Currently she is one year old. This makes her the youngest child we have had come to Chain of Love in a long time. It was the school that Maria Eduarda’s older brother Eric attended that alerted the authorities that something was not right with their home life. It was soon discovered that there was total negligence on the part of their parents to look after the basic needs of their many children.
The parents were gone for long periods of time, leaving the children to beg for food from the neighbors. They would be totally unkempt, full of lice and under dressed in the cold of the winter. When the parents would show up they were drunk and would often argue with each other at knife point.
As a result of this, the children have psychological trauma. Not only would the parents neglect their kids but each one would come home at times with other lovers which made matters worse. In the end, the neighbors took the kids in and cared for them as best they could.
Maria Eduarda has been placed in our 2nd home with houseparents Fabiana and Anderson. She is requiring a lot of attention from her new housemother but hopefully things will settle down after a few weeks.
