Gabriel Natan - House 3
Gabriel Natan was born September 9, 1998. He comes to us from the half way house in our city where he has been for the past two years. His mother died of cancer in 2005 and the grandmother that he has shows no interest in taking him in. His father is in jail for murder for the long haul and also shows no desire to later on take on his guardianship. Gabriel has 4 other brothers and sisters. One sister is interested in taking him in but the courts see her as too young. She and other family members also are involved in small theft so effectively would be putting Gabriel at risk with the law.
The courts have asked for a family situation where there is a mother and father figure, as well as emotional ties. The courts looked to us to provide this. He is being placed in our third family where José and Alzira are house parents.
Gabriel feels sad because he does not have a family that cares for him. He feels abandoned which is fact is what he is. Because of his unstable last few years, he is only in grade one.
2009 Update: Gabriel Natan is adapting well to his new life. Although he rarely went to school before he came to Chain of Love he has learned to read and write during the past year. Please pray that he would succeed in Portuguese at school. He also experiences insecurity, lacks confidence and cries easily.
